Re: What did you do to your panther today?

Was hoping to get my brakes on over the weekend, but alas... again...that didn't happen. Also wanted to clean the interior. Weather did not cooperate. :( Did drive it through a lot of deep water over the weekend, courtesy of the sudden downpours we had. It performed flawlessly, and now the bottom of...

Re: Whatcha doing?

I had an Armada 7360DMT that I used for years, it only recently kicked the bucket. Refuses to power on. I thought about fixing it, people who have parts think they're worth their weight in gold, so that isn't happening. Now the plan is to gut it, install a Raspberry Pi, and turn it into a homebrew C...

Re: What did you do to your panther today?

It started making some noise, so put some oil in it.
Knew it'd be low since I hadn't for a few weeks, but didn't think it was that low!

Welcome to the new business model! Everything is a subscription, and notice how it tries to push you to "the cloud" for everything? :chainsaw: If you don't have install disks for your old Word, download LibreOffice. You can download SMPlayer for audio/video files. It's basically a Windows port of Li...

Re: Where were you when...

Waking up for class. Heard something on the radio, didn't think much of it at first. Then clicked on the TV and realized this was big. The first plan had already hit, and had a sinking feeling something else would happen. Sadly, that was confirmed as I was making breakfast. Went to class, everybody ...

Re: Whatcha doing?

And I gotta get a shyt-ton of data ported over from my back-up... Well that's good to hear. I was just talking to someone who had a drive die, sent it off to a recovery place, they retrieved that data then asked for ~$1000. So much for that stuff. You can adjust the mouse speed in the control panel...

Turns out I grossly overestimated how much room I needed.
Better to have too much room, than too little.

Probably why we drive Panthers.

Re: What did you do to your computer recently?

Setting up a new one. Got a dual processor Xeon that was being discarded. 2 processors, 4 cores each, can hold a max of 192GB DDR3 RAM (it'll take a while to fill that! It'll be fine with the 16GB or whatever is in there now.) Quadro 600 video card, so I finally have something OpenCL and VDPAU capab...

Re: Whatcha doing?

Fixed the dryer again. Igniter went out. The replacement part isn't the same style, though functionally equivalent. (whaddya expect with a dryer that's at least 40 years old? I'm actually amazed, and pleased, that I've had no problems finding parts.) First problem was the existing screw was too shor...

Re: What did you do to your panther today?

Cool engine! Did you get to see it run? Nope. I didn't arrive in time to see it rolling down the tracks, but a friend who lives further north did see it. All I got to hear is the whistle a-blowin' (and it's a mighty one!). Illinois Railway Museum is only about an hour drive away, and they have a ni...

Test drove an 18 Nissan Sentra, and it left be stranded.
Ya know, all the cars I see on the side of the road are much newer than mine!
