Front plate was a little crappy, but not too bad.

Rear plate was not so good.

Looked over my monthly bills this afternoon... got a notice from Illinois Secretary of State to renew my license plate registration for my Mustang...
New Governor, new political party, new registration fee: $158 for the year... an increase of ~50% ($50 more than last year.) License plates for the Mustang are more than the insurance. YIKES!

Our older son has been trying to get us to sell our house here in Illinois and buy one near him in Sioux Falls, SD so he can take care of us when necessary. He says housing costs are lower, and so are vehicle costs... his idea is starting to make some sense.

Happily, mine were due in November, so I have a little reprieve.

Did the Antique or Extended Antique rates go up that bad? Might want to switch to one of those for the 'stang.

Ben, I haven't checked the price of antique plates for the 'Stang... I've had the same number [ PONY V6 ] for almost 30 years, and I want to keep it. But, I'm thinking about looking at the antique plates now, with this whopping increase in the annual plate fee. This already expensive state is getting even more burdensome with this new Governor...

My dad wanted me to install a cargo mat in my mom's new van.

General Motors is getting dumber and dumber.

Yesterday he wanted me to cut it because it sticks up over the top of the seat. So I figured out how it was supposed to sit. It's really stupid. The dealer told him you have to drill into the seat back to affix it. :lolzwha:

So here it up against the seat back laying down.
ImageImage

I drilled into it, it felt like the spots where it attached were weakened, at least on the left one it did.
Image

The instructions were about as worthless as it comes.
ImageImageImage
I mean is it too much to ask to use actual words in your instructions?

The stupid mat interferes with the package tray, so that's gotta come out.
Image
AND, that's something my mom actually wanted.

BY the way, this is the idiotic way this thing actually sits when the seats are up, which they pretty much always will be.

Finally got the new fuel line on the snowblower and that put back together.
The new line is significantly thicker, being that it's actually fuel line- the original looked more like washer fluid hose. The routing sucks, it obviously didn't occur to whoever did it that someone would have to run the hose first then put the tank on, nevermind that the tank might have to come back off at some point. So the new hose is pressed against the shroud a little more than I'd like, hopefully it'll be ok. Maybe after this winter I'll take it apart again and run a hard line though there- won't help in the serviceability department, but that already sucks so meh.

While I was at it, re-routed the throttle cable again. It works much better now, and fast is actually fast and slow is actually slow (it was reversed before).

My aunt from Cleveland called yesterday and invited us to breakfast this morning. My dad and I went, and he was his usual sunshiney self.

We stopped to get diesel in his truck afterwards. He sent me in to pay for it, when I came out he was on one knee in the door. He yelled at me to help him up, and wanted me to yell at the girl inside that she needed to put ice melt down. I went in and told her, and she came out and put some down by the door, but not by the pumps. He yelled at me to go back in and yell at her again, but I refused. So after he pumped his gas he went in and yelled at her some more.

He's so infuriating.

Then I had to snowblow the driveway. It snowed, then warmed up so it got slushy, then froze and snowed some more. The snowblower was practically useless on it at points. I was going up the sidewalk two doors down and couldn't get through a drift. She's had her yard dug up to do something with the sewer line and one of the sidewalk blocks is just stone - which I was not aware of. I forced the snowblower past it and turned around in her driveway and came back, and threw all the stones I dug up everywhere. Oops.

Still snooping at a replacement for the Panther...

It's 16 years old, has 143,000 miles, needs new rear air springs, a set of tires, a brake job, and the heater/AC plenum replaced.
Don't know if it's really worth putting all that into the old buggy. :sold2vs:
